It was once headed by my friend Leonard Arrington, LDS Church Historian, who in 1977 wrote me congratulating me for my BYU Alumni Distinshed Service Award and wanted to copy all of my files and do an oral history....but I told him "HOPE ...of a good outcome...MUST NEVER DIE!"
The BOOK reveals how a Near Death Experience began the history, then explains THE MYSTERIOUS CAUSE, followed by 9 INTENSIVE YEARS OF PREPARATION……All leading to our decision to CLIMB the MOUNTAIN...FOLLOW THE DREAM, a dream that would TAKE ALL THE LOVE WE HAD EVERY DAY of OUR LIVES & launch....
THE SUMMING UP OF THE OVERALL PURPOSE OF THIS MAYA MOUNTAINS history is a metaphor of my life in the movie EVELYN--crystalized in a simple prayer offered by a freckled-faced Irish 10 year old from the true real life story told in the movie that bears her name seen below .
She testified fearlessly in the Supreme Court of Ireland saying, "Lord God....
FLOURISH!"
Then pointing out that LYING was prohibited by the 9th commandment, and saying to the prosecutor,
"I’M SURPRISED YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!"
Similar to my half a century of dealing with some men who didn't seem to know that LYING was and is a serious sin and more.....GET THE MAYA BOOK &

NOTE: It wasn't possible to do an INDEX—I actually worked like a slave for 4 days doing it, and with 7 double column pages within a hair of being finished--my computer crashed and my work was lost. I felt like the Japanese guy fed up with his computer and pulled his pistol and shot it! I was tough and put my pistol back in my pocket and didn't do that, but rather created for the 2nd page an extensive:

However, as long as I'm alive the Guatemalan Foundation website will be maintained—very likely remaining with this last post--as a permanent guide to the historical book, but afterwards it will likely fade away too, however in the meantime it will always remain with the hope that: An important purpose of this 86+ year history will see it's fulfillment by....
...someone who is honest and sincere—doing as he or she,
or they should do, so the miracle will be
done...
...as my 50+ years among the Maya showed repeatedly a
mysterious NEGATIVE BIAS
and a
CLEAR SYSTEMIC WEAKNESS THAT NEEDS FIXING
which will be a KEY ITEM in the fulfillment of the promise and prophecy that in the latter days....
"the house of God will be set in order"

NOTE: There is a curious end to that prophecy in verse 8 that actually is the exact opposite of what it seems, but first lets enjoy a wonderful and exciting history about which it was said,
"Thousands of Lamanites were saved, and many tens of thousands helped to get an education!"
as well as, according to Harold Brown,
"Stimulating the organization of
World-wide Welfare Services!"
That worked out to be one of the crucial purposes and achievements of this life-long personal and family effort!
All part of heading south for a lifetime of doing in my simple way what the Lord asked me to do on the snowy slopes of the Henry Mountains at 1:00 AM on October 23, 1965:
"Serve my little ones" & "help them achieve lives of dignity as you would want for yourself!"
