....a book documenting with 3,000 photographs the beauty of nature over a 3 year period as never done before in this area.
Five years ago I couldn't walk, muscles disappearing in my legs, but with the help of the Lord my legs awakened and I learned to walk again like a baby does....eventually graduating to the foothills with my trekking poles and camera.....compiling a book for me to remember the awakening experience that saved my life.
Over 3 years my 523 hikes became a 4 volume book showing the miracle of creation like never before.

Chapter 1 tells the story of what came out of my 2,000 miles of backpacking in the High Uintas to do that book, and the 12 surgeries to make that possible, then two more on my spine....leading to being unable to walk, leg muscles disappearing and talk of putting me in a Rest Home. I relate the incredible experience--THE CHALLENGE OF MY LIFE--and with the help of the Lord overcoming that, learning to walk again.....and 523 hikes later in the foothills..... the 4 volume book detailing that miracle and the creation, and my attempt to do as the Lord of Creation suggested:

The entire 4 volume book will be shared freely with all interested, volume by volume as well as the Table of Contents, and the Alphabetical Index of all identified plants, mammals, birds, reptiles, spiders, etc. I have printed for me all of the volumes along with the Table of Contents and Index. All done by my favorite printer that does an excellent job. Full information will follow the next paragraph.
Any of you interested in doing so are free to have it done by copying each downloaded volume along with the Table of Contents and Index onto a thumb drive and taking to your favorite printer.
But the best choice is to use my printer, COPYTEC, they are authorized to print for you using their formatting done for each of my Volumes which include in each the Table of Contents in the beginning, and at the end the Alphabetical Index for all 4 volumes.

LAST PROJECT FOR ME: REFERENCE BOOKLET
I will carefully go through each volume and for each plant list the medicinal uses for each and make an alphabetical index listing of all Conditions Treatable and the plants useful for each and Volume and page numbers where each is found. I will do the same making an Edibility Index, as well as a Poisonous Index. When done I will have a notice listed here and a linkto download them in a Reference Booklet to help in the use of these 4 volumes.

I have come to realize that actually Parts 2-4 of the book contain more properly a special message of critical importance, but it is more properly for a special group of leaders, so I have removed it, as well as the sort of LAST MESSAGE I previously had on this website......while making my 2nd attempt to get it to those who need the book for their own and the people they represent.
I therefore, in an effort to help better understanding and needed acton, have removed both of them from public access, and rather am making an effort to first let that history be available to those who need it most and....and hope and pray that this will be a blessing for the work of the Lord.

NOTE: Everything in my life of any value evolved from what is described in this crucial foundational autobiographical writing. It was originally included as an Appendix in the evolving MAYA BOOK. Then the EDITED & IMPROVED 80 page writing became more logically Part 1 in the FINAL VERSION of the Book as it set the stage for my existence—what will now be my busy 88th year that began on April 20, 2023.
You'll notice my "VISION QUEST" didn’t involve any stimulants—like some friends say I used in a previous life as John Morgan, "Shunkawakan," the Sioux name for "A Man Called Horse"—but rather followed a normal sequence of development, each step building on a previous one motivated by a wonderful influence I was attracted to—yes, stumbling here and there but gradually learning, but aided by great parents whose example motivated my personal efforts trying to be a better person—guided, strengthened and confirmed by a divine influence I came to realize was our Creator who I came to know by leaning towards my father’s saintly influence and what he took very seriously—a special book of holy scripture—The Book of Mormon, from ancient America through which I came to know the influence guiding me was our Savior Jesus Christ who in fulfilling his purpose on earth had actually become “Our SAVIOR and the GOD OF THIS WORLD."

Those needing to study it carefully with integrity have had their chance and RESPONDED WITH A DEFEANING SILENCE! But, you might have heard that
I don't give up ...... easily.

PRINT COPIES
For a print copy in two volumes as seen above the spiral version
is the most practical as pages will remain open.
The other version is mainly for libraries with a place to list call numbers. Every library in the U.S. should have this book as
there is no other book about the
HIGH UINTAS
or
SAFE, ENJOYABLE BACKPACKING ANYWHERE
that even comes close.
I do not personally handle orders for print copies anymore as I did in the beginning for about 60 more than willing to pay big bucks to get it, but now suggest my favorite printer below. Prices in the beginning were relatively low as I got a quantity discount for the 60 who were willing to pay almost anything, but prices have risen a lot, so you will have to talk to the printer....but for a single copy you can expect the cost to be around $200. They do excellent color reproduction with great paper.
Also they can do a black & white version that will cost about 1/3rd of what color will cost.
Of course you can get it done at your favorite printer by first purchasing the online book, then taking it to the printer on a thumb drive with the book. If you go to Office Max, remember my experience is that they printed all the pictures too dark, so give strict instructions to avoid that and get better color reproduction.

....there will be updates through the 2024 season to finally conclude the online book later this year. Some of said "updates" will be
"the mysterious world of MOSSES" ......
.....and the story of germination, of the plants be it each year the sprouting of each plant, or in the case of perrenials, them coming to life again in late winter, or early spring which I didn't show in most cases last year as I started too late ...March 15th.
But since...2023...I kept hiking all winter long into 2024 bringing my total hikes to 300+ in the last 18 months, for example just today, February 24, 2024, I photographed the germination of 6 plants I missed last year as I didn't start this project soon enough and I didn't even have a clearly defined purpose yet of it becoming a book.
So I will keep at it as best I can and photograph and report on as many as possible of the wonderful beginnings of the 200+ plants photographed so far.....and in that effort I am discovering more amazing Visions of Nature, and finally will....
...make as complete a record of the Foothills of Timpanogos as has ever been done before.
For each of them I will include the edibile and medicinal benefits of each, and make sure all know about those that are poisonous, but always emphasize their beauty.....as some of the poisonous ones are absolutely magnificent....like a couple below!

........all parts of these two beautiful plants are poisonous, along with others, but knowing how...they can also be medicinal....my book will explain.
ONCE I HAVE IT FINISHED & ONLINE....
......I will then go to work to convert it to a printable online book
with page numbers and index and likely be forced to make it a commercial venture to recover at least a tiny portion of what has been invested....like at least for gasoline and car repairs...making possible getting to the Trailheads 300+ times.
The Introduction & Chapter 1 of the
book documents my story as a cripple who towards the end of 2020 couldn't walk, my leg muscles disappearing. I then briefly tell the story how
I NEVER GIVE UP...WITHOUT A FIGHT
and that's not a joke....and I became a
"recovering cripple."
Eventually my painful therapy progressed to hiking the foothills of Mount Timpanogos and motivated me to accept the persistant pain as the VISIONS of NATURE I found everywhere inspired me to document those "visions" with my camera and share with the world, first online as outlined below, that will eventually become a printed book with color photographs like no one has seen before.

FOLLOWS AN IMPORTANT PREFACE to the
INTRODUCTION of Chapter 1:
By Novembere 2023 I basically finished all 6 Chapters of this my 5th book: DIVINE VISIONS....but as explained above only Chapter 1 is available until the book is finished in the Fall likely with 7 0r 8 chapters...which will be an inspiring, informative and wonderful gift to all of my friends, and a testament to the CREATOR, who we learn from the BIBLE book of John 1 was Jesus Christ:
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
ADDITIONALLY.....
....an ancient prophet in America said we are to serve Jesus Christ,
"who is the God of this land." Ether 2:12
With this understanding Christmas, Easter and our daily worship for many of us will have multiple meaning:
Our "SAVIOR," the "CREATOR," and the "GOD OF THIS LAND!"

ONE REACTION AFTER ONE OF MY SPEECHES
A friend, after one of my speeches to the
Utah Valley Historical Society,
said,
"WHAT A LIFE....WHAT A COUPLE OF BOOKS!"
...The two:
"My Life in the Mountains of the Maya"
and the one about my
"life long love affair with the High Uinta Mountains"
I'll be the first to confess that I can't hardly believe I was blessed
with the realization of two dreams in one lifetime, and now almost finished with
the third "Impossible Dream" entitled the
DIVINE VISIONS of NATURE from TIMPANOGOS.
For sometime, the MAYA BOOK, as explained
in the opening paragraphs in Espanol and in English was retired.
Yet, since this announcement, many on my Facebook page are now asking
How they can get the book?
As explained above Part 1 of the book is now available in Spanish and English I will be working on producing the rest of the book in a condensed version in both Spanish and English....
.....but remember I'm 88 years old....going for 100, and now move at a slow motion, limping, stalking pace....
....SO, KEEP HEALTHY AND ALIVE SO YOU CAN STUDY IT CAREFULLY AND HONESTLY !
